Movie Lakay caught up with actress Fabienne Colas at the Montreal International Black Film Festival in Montreal, Canada.
The Fabienne Colas Foundation, which created the Montreal and Quebec City International Haitian Film Festival and the Quebec Film Festival in Haiti, inaugurated the Montreal International Black Film Festival, which ran from September 23 to 27, 2009.
, founder and president of the festival, told Movie Lakay that the purpose of the festival is to help people with Haitian backgrounds reconnect with their culture and allow non-Haitians to discover young, dynamic cinema; also, to give people the opportunity to understand that the reality of the Haitian people is a lot more complex, diversified and rich than what is shown in the news.
