I like watching them in Kreyol. I feel more at home; however, if possible, I think Haitians should start dubbing the movies in English and Creole. If they make movies in English only, they are not targeting the people in Haiti or those who speak Creole only. If they make them in Creole only, the Africans will take over 100%, they can't send them to festivals (unless close captioned) and you targeting 1 market only.

There are advantages and disadvantages but they should consider dubbing all movies with optional language from the DVD.

we don't even have bar codes for our DVDs; therefore, we won't be able to track anything

Does anybody have any idea how much copies an average Haitian movie sells? The average cost of a film in the Nigerian film industry cost about 10 to 15,000 dollars, and it sells about 50,000 copies. A big hit like Beyonce sells several hundred thousand copies, sometimes, millions. I am a Haitian director, and I find it distressing that I can get this information about the African film industry, or most any other film industry, but not my own Haitian industry. What's the big secret? Haitian filmmakers should demand that producers and distributors make this info available. There won't be a viable Haitian film industry to talk about if there's no transparency, especially when the bootleggers are hauling a good chunk of the profits. It will be like the Haitian music industry where most of the artist hold second jobs and die broke, while a handful of producers and distributors get filthy rich. If anybody has any figures about Haitian movie releases, please post.

Are there any figures for an average haitian movie release? In the nigerian movie industry, an average film sells 50,000 copies and it costs about 10 to 15,000 dollars to make it. At 2 dollars a copy, that's about 80,000 dollars return on the investments. Do the Haitian distributors share or even log these informations? There's absolutely no info from producers or distributors about haitian movie releases. I can't find any info about how many copies any haitian movies make. That's distressing! If anyone has any idea please post it.
Thank you.

The best way is to do it yourself, I don't thing the Haitian movie industry has distributors but we do have a lot of Resellers. Who will buy your DVD for 2 or 3 dollars and resell it for $12.00.

well if you r looking quality i don't think download a video from youtube will be the best because the video already compress for web streaming. For a good quality u need the original footage. But anyway, I always choose MP4.

hi,

im new here and i need your help guys,
i recently got into video editing for recreational purposes.
anyway, i want my videos to look somewhat professional,
some of the things i want:
- to be able to split screen in half or fourths and play seperate vids in each
- to cut out frames efficiently and make clips have a stop motion feel
- to import a transparent strip and place text over it

i just need something versatile (better than movie maker)
any suggestions are appreciated, thanks.
