Mary Jane is a story narrated by 26 years old M.J. (Patri Valmyr). After 9 years being away from home, she is returning home to face her past and her demons. Mary Jane takes us back to when she was just 9 years old (played by Astrid Trouillot) and relived in chilling details how she was molested by her uncle Frank (Darron Andrews).
Forced to spend her after school hours at her uncle’s house, Mary finds herself the prey of her uncle’s deranged mind until she was thirteen. Her behavior rapidly changed for the worst. No one can understand why. However, her mother Denise (Natalie Kanzky) fights to rescue her daughter from her mental state of mind.

It happens more than you think. A lot more - one in four girls and one in six boys will be sexually abused before their eighteenth birthday.
It can happen right under your nose and you may never know - less than one victim in ten will tell.
The perpetrators aren’t usually “dirty old men hiding in the bushes” - 34% of those who sexually abuse children are family members. A further 59% are friends and acquaintances of the child and his family.
You probably don’t realize how big the problem is - 67% of the victims of all sexual assaults (including adults) are children.
……..This is not just a movie it’s a movement…..

Looks like a very important film, a social document, driven by its gritty style.

Our condolences to Mary Jane’s producer and production manager assistant Joslet Clervil who lost his father during the Haiti Earthquake.

These statistics are alarming and there is no doubt that something need to be done to help those abused children; I am hoping this film will shed some light on this issue for many of us. To the producers, my question would be how far do you intend to go with this movie?….great subject! great acting! well put together I am truly impressed and let’s hope the whole film is as good as the trailer…

I really appreciate a film that stands for something. I know people who went through this tragic experience.
TO Movielakay: I am waiting to see the interview with the cast. This seems very interesting.

My name is Raymond
I received an email from the crew of Mary Jane to come and watch the first 20 minutes of this film and give an honest opinion; they wanted me to do it at MOVIELAKAY’s website.
First I have to say this. If you are looking for a fast paste film this one is not for you.
Base on what I have seen (20 minutes). You almost have a sense that these actors are seasoned the emotions that they convey is on point. The story crisscrosses, going back and forth in time, in a manner that recalls of Hollywood production. The complexity might require a second viewing, but there is compensation in the realistic acting by a cast of non pros.
Don’t be fooled this is a powerful film, one scene in particular has me fighting back tears.
In the end this film will not disappoint you.
I would highly recommend it to all of you.
Thanks to the crew of MARY JANE

@FanmI.E.T: I agree with I LOVE OBAMA. What is your contribution? It would have been better if it was a constructive criticism that could have move these film makers forward. Remember this; Hollywood had its fall start look at them now. If you take a good look at this trailer you noticed right away that something is different.
Next time please, do us all a favor keep your NON CONSTRUCTIVE criticism to your self…
KUDOS to MOVIELAKAY

This story has been played by African movies already. Look at on youtube ” Man of honour” played by Nigerian actor Van Vicker. When Haitians will stop copy other people’s work? Be creative and original.
Putain, C’est la honte.
