[via SawPanse.com] Haitian actor Jacques Maurice is mourning after he lost his 22-year old son following the tragic car accident in Delmas 33, Haiti. According to a source at Shalom FM where Jacky Maurice was a radio host, he died in the hospital last night between 9-10PM.
May he rest in peace.

REMO has officially taken the crown as the first Haitian movie to reach one million views on Movie Lakay’s YouTube channel. Since its official launch 2 years ago, the clip has been viewed more than 1 million times on YouTube and the movie page on MovieLakay.com has been viewed by over 100,000 fans – making it without a doubt, the most watched movie on the site’s history. Remo movie clip hit the 500,000 view mark in late 2010 and hasn’t let up since.

REMO, starring Sheila Pierre, Desma Duclair and Georges Balezine, was directed by Smith Cassamajor (Cassa Pictures) and filmed by Samuel Vincent (21 Pictures). Congratulations to the cast and crew!

According to HPN, Farah Menard was returning from Cabaret on Sunday when the brutal accident happened. She was 47.

Farah Menard featured in the Haitian hit movie VIP – directed by Reginald Lubin, starring Smoye Noisy (as Didier Delarue), and Alessandra Lemoine (as Daphnée Laurent).

Haiti has recently become one of the hot filming locations for Tutu Demosthene’s new movie.

The cast and crew of ‘The Heavenly Side of Hell’, including lead actors Tony Delerme, Tico Armand, Michelle Georges, set off for Haiti two weeks ago to shoot the film. It is said that the first portion of the film was shot in Grand-Goâve while the second half was shot at various picturised locations in Haiti.

‘The Heavenly Side of Hell’ is an action thriller produced by Medgine and directed by Tutu Demosthene. According to a source, lead actor Tony Delerme (son of Raynald Delerme) has apparently decided to perform all the action stunts and fight sequences without using a body double.

The film features model Tico Armand who will pump in all the glamour required to attract the masses.

Fashion stylist Waina Chancy also went to Haiti with the production crew. It’s gotta be good being in Tutu’s movie. You get to star in a movie with beautiful people and now get to spend the summer in Haiti. Some people just have all the luck!

The staff of Bouya Film is wrapping up filming of the final scenes of ‘The Heavently Side of Hell’ in Miami sometimes this month.

About Grand Goâve
Grand Goâve is a city in the Ouest Department of southwestern Haiti. The town is one of the oldest cities of the country, and was named Goâve by the Amerindians. The Spanish called it Aguava at the end of the 16th century. After French colonization through the releasing of the Spanish, the French divided the city into two halves, Grand-Goâve and Petit-Goâve.

Grand Goâve was 90% destroyed by the 7.0 earthquake of January 12, 2010.

Rapper/actress Teyana Taylor has gotten into a bloody fight with Haitian movie director Jean-Claude La Marre on the set of “Gang of Roses 2.”

Teyana Taylor claims La Marre ignored her pleas to be taken home while she dealt with an aching tooth.

According to 20-year-old Teyana, she asked multiple times to be taken home by car service because the pain was just too much to bear — and when La Marre continually refused to allow that … she got in his face and started shouting. Teyana claims La Marre shouted back, “Don’t f**king scream at me bitch” … and pushed her in the face, hitting her aching tooth.

Taylor said she got punched in the nose and mouth and bled. La Marre said he only acted defensive after she jumped on him and “began swinging”.

La Marre ended up killing off Taylor’s character in the movie. The director also said he is not taking the matter further because “she’s 20 years old and I’m 40 …kids lash out.”

Gang of Roses 2 co-stars Amber Rose, her boyfriend Wiz Khalifa, and a few other folks.

Will she play into her family’s accustomed blame games and follow their nonchalant footsteps or will Zuli adapt those of her fearsome ancestors who had a different vision of how life should be lived? Either or, this frantic and unique journey helps her discover the key to saving her beloved Ayiti, but can she do it before it’s too late?

Characters breakdown:

1-ZULI- Protagonist, brown skin female, btwn 23-28 yo; athletic, sassy, dynamic, daring and lively. Zuli sees through the “bs” of her family especially her mother. She is respectful but also witty, speaks the truth to everyone no matter what. She is the chosen one who will change destiny. Zuli’s character is very strong and her eyes tell a lot. (Actress must be able to show lots of emotions through the eyes)

2-SALIN- btwn 27-31 yo old, medium to dark skin male. Salin is tall, slim and very toned. He is well known hustler, and the most wanted drug dealer of the government’s list. Despite that, Salin is a revolutionary, a radical. He’s lost his wife and daughter in the massive earthquake. He believes in designing his own life, and follow his own rules. He hates America and wants his old life. He is involved in all sorts of illegal activities and deals drugs in the States. He is currently dating Zaren for the wrong reasons.

3-ZAREN-Salin’s girlfriend, Haitian-American female of Arab descent. She is a spoiled 23-28 yo old brat, who doesn’t do much bur live off her parents prominent business in Haiti. She is a brand new drug addict and is dating Salin for easy access to those drugs. She is loud, obnoxious, provocative, hot headed and respects no one. Zaren is defensive when people finds out she is Haitian due to her lighter skin complexion. She suffers from the “I’m mixed” complex.

4-FLAVIA- White European lady, in her early 30s, tall and slim like a runway model. She has dark hair with light eyes and pale skin. She is bossy and speaks with a European accent. She’s also involved in illegal activities. She delivers the drugs in the neighborhoods. She is the main distributor in Salin’s region. She’s a business woman with no time in hand to play.

5-SOLANJ- She is the mother of Zuli. She is in her early forties with a young face. Medium built, she operates on a guilty conscience due to her past mistakes. Her point of views are limited and restricted and hypocritical. She is a “born Again” Christian that forces her views on others.

6-KETLY- She is Zuli’s aunt and Solanj’s sister. She is in her mid forties. She no longer wants to identify with anything associated with Haiti and rejects her culture, roots and language. She’s an arrogant woman who speaks with a heavy Haitian accent. She is fake, pretentious, with a negative attitude. She is a hypocrite who lives beyond her means, and points the finger at others for her bad decisions. She’s the mother of two young teenagers.

7-THE ORACLE- “Mambo Zong Long lan” (The long nailed Witch) nicknamed given to her by Ketly and Solanj. Older woman in her 50-60s. She is a blind clairvoyant and is the connector between the past and future. WIth strong facial features, she also speaks through her eyes. Soft spoken, she is mysterious and wise. She wears colorful traditional Haitian dresses head pieces and loves to dance.

8- DOCTOR CANNAY — Male doctor in his mid to late forties with good articulation and a strong presence on camera. We are open minded for this role.

Beloved Comedic Actor Johnny Fleurinord well-known as Tonton Nord passed away this morning Thursday July 28, 2011 in a hospital in Gonaives, Haiti from “complications due to Kidney ailment,” a source told Movie Lakay.  He was 36. No other details were available and his manager asked that his family’s privacy be respected.

Tonton Nord’s career started in 2000 when he called a radio station and began to speak like an old man. “Actually it was my grandfather I was portraying”, he told  Belfim. He told a lot of jokes on the air, then hung up the phone. So many people loved the old-man’s voice that the director of the radio station offered him free air-time for his own comedy show.

They both confirmed the relationship with a Facebook relationship status update -from being “single” to “in a relationship”.

Not sure if the couple has been engaged or married, but Mercedes also changed her last name on Facebook to “Mireau” (Lobertho’s last name).

Born to Haitian parents from Port-Salut, Haiti but raised in Spring Valley, NY, Mercedes attended Ramapo High School in New York where she started modeling and acting at the age of 16 and graduated in 2002. She left New York and moved to Florida to pursue her acting and modeling dream. Her latest action movie ‘Lala‘ (starring Desmas Duclair and filmed by Samuel Vincent) was a big hit in Miami last summer. ‘Lala‘ is now on DVD.
