Raynald Delerme Last month, I wrote an article about the only good standing movie theater in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Cine Imperial shut down due to financial problems.

What I forgot to mention was that Haitian filmmakers had no where else to show their movies in Haiti.

Well, I got good news for you!

Raynald Delerme, the president of The Haitian American Association of Filmmakers () , just posted on the organization’s website some good news that I am sure will bring hope to the Haitian Cinema.

Here is what the post says:

The Haitian American Association of Filmmakers has been hard at work making sure that we, Haitian filmmakers, can keep showing our movies.

is the first venue that we accomplished. In Haiti, the Association is working on getting 2nd-run places to show our movies. Two outdoors venues have been contracted, PVS Cultural center at which can hold 400 plus people and a sport outdoor stadium which can hold up to 400 at . Dyab Baba, Le Péché et le Pardon and The Girls Club are expected to play there by mid November.

Movie Lakay will have an interview with Mr. Delerme soon, so stay tuned for more info.

Good Luck Mr. Delerme.

Raynald Delerme‘s new movie Dyab Baba will be premiere this Sunday October 18, 2009 at Cinema 6 – California Mall theater in Miami, FL. Kick off party for Dyab Baba this Friday at Indigo 7 / 14135 NW 7ave, Miami, FL.

    that’s a very good news!
But, seriously guys, he’s trying to do some for the Haitian Cinema.
What about lot dividande filmmakers haitien ki genyen yo? Si yo chak try pou yo fe yon bagay, nou ka imajine ki kote nap rive?

I agree with you b roll. He can’t do it alone. We need to unite and bring something positive in the haitian movie industry. What about education? we need to educate other filmmakers by doing seminar, or workshops. We need to invite some other non-Haitian filmmakers to at least share with us a little of what they know. I hope this is one of HAAF’s missions.

    good luck Baba
