MovieLakay is pleased to present its first Online Short Film Festival.

Movie Lakay Short Film Fest is a free online film festival showcasing the best and brightest short films from Haitian Filmmakers.

Our mission is to create and foster an online network of independent Haitian film producers, and to provide the support and resources necessary for those filmmakers to succeed in the Haitian film industry.

The vision of Movie Lakay is to be the single on-line source for Haitian independent filmmakers, providing them with the best tools, products and services to showcase their projects.

Are you a Director? Want to submit your short film for a chance to have it shown in our short film festival?  We are currently accepting submissions until November 2009, so don’t delay, check out our submission guidelines below.

What you need to know!

Entries will be reviewed by a panel of judges and the best of each genre will be screened for an audience of film enthusiasts, media and industry insiders.

The top film, the “Best of the Fest,” will be awarded a special prize, to be determined. Films that do not make the official selection will be posted up on this website, where visitors can cast votes for the “Best of Rest” award.

What are the submission rules and regulations?

Film submissions must not exceed 10 minutes in length, including credits (credits are mandatory).

Only films submitted in DVD, miniDV and Quicktime formats will be accepted. For DVD and miniDV, please submit two (2) copies. Affix a label to each copy clearly stating: the film’s name, name of the primary contact, e-mail address and phone number.

Once a film has been submitted, re-edited cuts will not be accepted. (If you want to re-submit, there will be a fee.)

By submitting to Movie Lakay Short Film Festival, you grant the festival the right to copy and present your film (at screenings, online, as part of a promo reel, etc.) for non-commercial use.

All entrants must obtain permission when using copyrighted material (sound or picture) that they do not own. Written documentation permitting the use of any copyrighted material not owned by the entrant must be submitted along with the application.

Examples of copyrighted material may include: popular music, stock video footage and photographs. It is the entrant’s responsibility to obtain all necessary rights, clearances and permission. The Movie Lakay Short Film Festival assumes no responsibility for any violation of copyright law committed either willfully or unknowingly by entrants.

Each entry must be accompanied by the following:

1. a 25-50 word synopsis
2. the filmmakers biography or résumé
3. any necessary copyright clearances
4. a complete list of credits

What is the deadline for submission?

February 26, 2010 (You will be charged $75.00 if you want to submit after the deadline)

Is there are submission fee?

No. However, senders are responsible for all shipping and handling costs.
