Mary Jane Movie Press Conference

mary-jane-press-conferenceOnly 2 days before the much-anticipated summer movie “” hits theaters on July 17, 2010 -and in support of the release of the feature film the creative team, actors and sponsors behind the movie took part in a press conference to discuss the consequence of child sexual abuse and bring social awareness and inspiration to take action for not only those who watch the film but the rest of society as well.

During the press conference, LCStudios played a 15-minute preview of the movie -  I just want to say brilliant dialogue, story, and may I say absolutely brilliant acting from the entire cast. I have seen a lot of movies but Mary Jane touched me big time. This movie makes me stop and think.

Astrid Trouillot, a young actress in her debut performance … is heartbreaking as Young Mary Jane. The rest of the actors [Genji Jack, Natalie Kanzki, Patri Valmyr] perform so powerfully in the film that the audience will be hard-pressed to find a better performance from other actors.

I guarantee you, you will walk away with feeling hopefully.

“About Mary Jane”
Mary Jane is a story narrated by 26 years old M.J. (Patri Valmyr). After 9 years being away from home, she is returning home to face her past and her demons. Mary Jane takes us back to when she was just 9 years old (played by Astrid Trouillot) and relived in chilling details how she was molested by her uncle Frank (Darron Andrews).

Forced to spend her after school hours at her uncle’s house, Mary finds herself the prey of her uncle’s deranged mind until she was thirteen. Her behavior rapidly changed for the worst. No one can understand why. However, her mother Denise (Natalie Kanzky) fights to rescue her daughter from her mental state of mind.

No doubt about it. Mary Jane is a slipper hit and most likely an award winner contender.

The movie looks promissing and I am always happy for the new directors. However, after having seen the trailer, I feel that there is an absolutely very false note which is shown in the uncle looking absolutely creepy. How is it that the parents could so be so pathetically blind to leave their daughter with such a man, which must be distracting fact. As such, I think the uncle should have been depicted as the unsuspecting adorable uncle as the way it usually occurs and as it was tangentially depicted in Monsoon Wedding.
