On Sunday, November 24, 2013, live from the Lombardo’s Hall in Randolph. Prof. Laura Pincus Hartman will be honored with the MPAH Awards 2013 Humanitarian Award in recognition of her meaningful contribution to the Haiti earthquake relief efforts. Hosted by Hollywood Haitian actor Benz Antoine and Professional model Sarodj Bertin, the show will also include electrifying performances by well known Nigerian artist Koby Maxwell and many more.
Laura Pincus Hartman is Vincent de Paul Professor of Business Ethics at DePaul University’s Driehaus College of Business and just completed a three-year position as Special Assistant to the University President for Haiti Initiatives. She has received the university’s Excellence in Teaching Award, the Spirit of DePaul Award, the Woman of Spirit Award in honor of St. Louise de Marillac, the University Public Service Award, the College Outstanding Service Award, and numerous university competitive research grants.
Hartman helped to establish and now chairs the Board of a trailblazing tri-lingual elementary school in Haiti, the School of Choice / l’Ecole de Choix, which provides high quality leadership development education to children living in the most extreme conditions of poverty. Previously,Hartman was Director of External Partnerships for Zynga.Org, through which Zynga players have contributed more than $14 million toward the both domestic and international social causes. From 2009 – 2011, she represented DePaul University on the Worldwide Vincentian Family’s Vincentian Board for Haiti, a committee responsible for hands-on design and implementation of a micro-development, finance and education system for people living in poverty in Haiti (including its online project, www.zafen.org).
Hartman’s work, integrated throughout these endeavors and published in more than 80 articles, cases and books, demonstrates the potential for innovative and profitable partnerships to alleviate poverty while providing measurable value to all stakeholders involved.
Hartman serves as an advisor to several start-ups, was invited to BAInnovate’s inaugural UnGrounded lab and has been named to Fast Company’s “League of Extraordinary Woman.”
