Haitian comedian/actor Jean-Claude Joseph, well-known as Papa Pie, had a strange Sunday – he was rushed to a nearby hospital minutes after picking up the Prix d’Excellence Award at the 4th Annual MPAH Haiti Movie Award ceremony.
It wasn’t exactly clear what prompted the “La Vie Nan Bouk La” star to check into hospital, but his health emergency came after he fell ill while the “Lavi Nan Bouk” cast was on stage receiving the awards.
The MPAH Prix D’Excellence Award honors filmmakers and actors who have done exceptional work in the Haitian Movie Industry at every possible imaginable level. Past recipients include Marie Andre R. Jeudi (Mantoute), Ginette Beaubrun (Melanie), and Raynald Delerme (Baba).
We wish Papa Pie a speedy recovery.
