Fayolle Jean

Biography:
Born in Les Cayes, Haiti, Fayolle Jean began a brilliant career in radio in 1975. When he came to Quebec in 1979, he founded Les productions Cimage Québec. Fayolle is very active on the Quebec cultural scene: he was a radio host at CKMF 94.3 from 1986-1987 and directed the first Haitian feature film in Canada. Since 1990, Fayolle has been working in Quebec television (Watatatow, Jasmine, Km/h, Pure laine, to name but a few) and cinema (Matusalem, La position de l’escargot, Un dimanche à Kigali) as an actor and as a reporter (Radio-Canada, TVA, Télé-Québec, TV5). Fayolle is also a poet with the following publications under his belt: Symphonie pour une cellule (1982), Tenue de ville (1991) and Complice des voyelles (2005).

For several years now, he has been participating in poetry festivals in French-speaking Europe and in Canada, and he has also put out a CD on behalf of Société Paroles called Montréal vu par ses poètes (2006), Dits D’Elles (2008) and Fable Propos (pending). As a director, Fayolle Jean has produced and directed the following films: Tilòm aletranje (1989), Le poids des bottes (2001) and Pataswèl ou La Baffe (2007).
